1.) Good for milk checks

This is a useful product for frothing milk or hot milk checks, to prevent scalding. I use it with my Quickmill single group-head espresso machine to froth my morning milk for cappucinos.
2.) Nice thermometer

I use this thermometer exclusively for measuring the temperature of my espressos and cappuccinos. It works very quickly and seems accurate. No complaints, it works fine.
3.) Works great

This thermometer is great for making lattes at home. It works exactly as you'd expect it and appears to be very accurate. The dial is labeled the range for "froth" so it really takes the guess work out of the temperatures (not that it is incredibly difficult to remember, but if you're an early riser like me there is a reason why you are making coffee!).

i LOVE THIS frothing THERMOMETER. I didn't know what a huge difference it makes when frothing. I now have stiff froth for my dry cappuccinos. It attachs nice to my frothing pitcher. Easy to read for me.

I recently purchased this thermometer after buying a brand new espresso machine. This thermometer works very well and was a great price! I especially like the handle that hooks onto the steam container.

This thermometer is a pleasure to use. It is easy to read the dial and it is easy to clip on. It is also very accurate. I have used it several times since I bought it and I am very happy with it.
7.) Perfect for my needs

This thermometer works great for my needs of frothing milk for my lattes, I really don't care about the numbers just the area where the needle is which is around 180 degrees, who cares if it is 178, 181.5 or 185 if you want more precision for frothed milk temperature, first get a life, second, $6.99 won't give it to you.
8.) Great Frothing Thermometer

This thermometer is great. The gauge on it tells you the perfect temperature range for frothing milk and also the temperature at which milk begins to scald. Making cappuccino without a thermometer like this is hit or miss. I have had no problems with it since receiving it.

Made more of a difference than I expected. Purchased this with an inexpensive stainless frothing pitcher. Have to admit, much tastier with better temperature control, don't scald the milk anymore.

I bought this to replace a thermometer that I had purchased at Starbucks which had stopped working. It is nice and solid, easy to read, and so far works as advertised. Nice product. Short review, but hey, how much can you say about a thermometer!

This thermometer was out of stock, so Amazon offered it for about 60% of the original price. The catch was I would have no clue when it would be delivered. They emailed me a few days later saying it was on it's way. I ended up getting the thermometer about two weeks later, which was definitely worth the wait to get it at 60% off.
13.) It does the Job....for 8 months. Now it's broken.

I only use it with my frothing pitcher to steam milk. The large face dial is great for those early mornings when the brian has not yet kick in. On the face of the thermometer there is a section in RED that basically indicates the proper temperature for steaming milk (between 140 - 160 degrees) before it scalds. The only complaint is that it's too long for my Krups XS5020 20 oz. Italian Style Pitcher but then it does have a clip to hook on the rim. Buy this if you want a perfect cup of cappuccino.
Update (7/4/08): This morning I noticed that it has come loose. I try to tightened the bolt but to no avail. It's now useless - the needle is not stabilized. I had it for less than a year.
I've always washed it by hand never in the dishwasher and yet it is now broken. What a disappointment.

15.) Works really well

So far this has worked out really well. The only thing that I didn't espect is that it is really long and doesn't fit very well in my frothing pitcher, you have to put it sideways but it works fine other then that.
16.) Large face, good accuracy, but too long
Reviewed by: C. S. Jones Portland, OR USA

This thermometer is about average. The large dial is well marked and provides a high degree of accuracy, but the numbering and lettering use an unnecessarily small font for such a large face. The temperature reading seems very accurate when I compared it against other frothing thermometers. The primary drawback I found was that it is too large for a typical home frothing pitcher. With a six inch stem (actually slightly longer) plus the dial, it requires over 6-1/2" of clearance to use. I find myself wishing it were shorter whenever I use it. Good value for the cost.

I recently purchased a DeLonghi EC155 espresso machine and I got accessories, including this thermometer for my Rattleware 12-Ounce Latte Art Milk Frothing Pitcher.
The thermometer is clearly too tall for my 12-oz pitcher, but still gets the job done. The temp is easy to read and the thermometer is very easy to rinse off after use.
I knew that it was going to be too tall but I just couldn't pass up the great price. Plus, when I upgrade to a taller pitcher this thermometer will be just the right size.
18.) Inconsistent, needs constant calibration
Reviewed by: Must Have Coffee Bellingham, WA usa

This thermometer has all the right features for frothing a pitcher of milk, it's a good size, and I liked the froth and scald indicators on the dial.
The problem with it is that face twists very easily on the stem, thereby 'changing' your temperature reading. Many thermometers allow you to calibrate them with a small wrench or tool, but this one will turn just by handling it. Even if you calibrate it in the morning, by the afternoon it will be off by 5-10 degrees.
I bought a couple dozen of these for my coffee shops, but ended up having to throw most away due to baristas inadvertently serving either cool drinks or scalding the milk.
19.) Loved It at First but it Broke after 2 months
Reviewed by: Rose Red California

At first I just loved this thermometer for frothing the milk on my cappuccino. It has really big numbers which were a pleasure to read and was color coded so you could see at a glance the proper range for frothing. However after only a couple months use, the face twists, thereby changing the temperature reading. I tried everything to fix this but nothing worked. It is pretty useless like this since the temperature can be anything from 20-40 degrees off. ( I tested it on boiling water ) I don't know if the bolt that holds the long stem to the face got loose, but you can't tighten it. At first I thought it was just my bad luck, but then I noticed a few people commented on the same problem.
20.) Destined to break, I should have listened to earlier reviews
Reviewed by: K. Dang Honolulu, Hawaii United States
Rating:
It may be an otherwise good piece of kitchen equipment, but if it breaks then it is just a useless piece of metal. Mine broke within the first 6 months of very moderate use when steaming milk. The needle won't budge whether I put it in the freezer or in scalding water. I had read the earlier reviews which mentioned this product's propensity to break, but I figured "what's $7?" My advice is to keep your $7 in your pocket instead of spending it on this thermometer.
